In the uplands of Kelč on the border of the Beskydy Mountains and the Hostýn Hills, between the villages Police and Kelč, the game preserve Hubertka is situated. Since long ago, this area has been known as Lapač. Historically, for the first time this territory was mentioned in 1444 in connection with Ondřej Skalička and the Skalička feud. In the nineteenth century Lapač and Skalička were separated and Lapač was given a name of Neuhof, however, the name Lapač has been used up to present time. In 1860 earl Dubský erradicated the woods and found a farmstead in place of former gamekeeper’s house. The woods and the grounds which pertained to this territory make up the base of today’s Hubertka game. When being found it consisted of 67 hectares and all the land are now being held by the owners of the game. There are also new bought lands which are being farmed and it is planned to incorporate it to the total area of the game preserve.
